New College students are known for studying hard, and partying harder. This spring semester is no different. As classes are well underway, Wall themes have been submitted, voted on and posted.
“Walls are a beloved New College tradition of student-led, themed parties that happen every semester,” second-year Adom Neizer-Ashun told the Catalyst. “Walls are a unique party experience on campus not only because they are student-led, but they are also student-elected, with the top 10 themes being chosen each semester.”
As the New College Student Alliance’s (NCSA) Chair of Student Life, Neizer-Ashun works closely with Wall hosts to solidify the schedule in conjunction with other on-campus events.
“The wall schedule is created through the collaboration of hosts and myself,” she explained. “Every semester, I create a list of dates, usually Saturdays or Fridays available that students can host. When choosing the dates I have to make sure that there are not any dates that interfere with other events on campus. Sign-up is first come first serve, and it is also up to the hosts to trade dates if needed.” Classics such as Punk Wall, hosted by third-years Beaux Delaune and Nya Jacobson, along with Anything But Clothes (ABC) Wall, hosted by second-years Lainey Rose and Calypso Camacho, will have students looking forward to some pleasure on the final weekends of the semester.
