Oct. 22 marked a monumental occasion for the New College campus as it celebrated Founder’s Day and its 50th birthday.
The morning was filled with festivities in front of College Hall as numerous speakers and alumni rose to commemorate their alma mater. It was a bright day fill of activity as President “Mike” Michalson, Sarasota Mayor Kelly Kirschner and various founders and friends of New College spoke eloquently of obstacles past and favorite memories involving the campus that tied them all together. The audience was filled with faculty and students both past and present who listened attentively as the story of their school was told. The New College Chorus sang a South African freedom song and an original composition commemorating the day the community of New College scholars joined together.
