The Heart Walk is an annual tradition established by the American Heart Association (AHA) in order to combat the number one cause of death in America: heart disease. This year’s Heart Walk for New College will be on Nov. 12 from 8 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Payne Park in downtown Sarasota, very close to the New College campus.
There will additionally be a van shuttle to and from the park for anyone who might not be able to drive themselves. Check Novoconnect to participate in the event and book your place on the shuttle van.
Walking for the AHA on Nov. 12 will help raise money and awareness for heart disease, stroke victims, and for the AHA’s mission to train people in CPR. With 22 million people trained in CPR each year, the AHA has a genuine mission with amazing results.
“The Heart Walk committee is very excited to bring back for the third year in a row the Heart Walk,” Coordinator of Campus Recreation Jacob Brody-Ogborn (‘22) said. “This is one way that the New College community can show their support for heart disease research, education and prevention. We look forward to sharing this experience with the New College community.”
Students that have participated in previous Heart Walks are invited to bring their free t-shirt from last time. And for any new participants, sign up online before participating in order to receive one.
