Food, music and fun: Hispanic Fall Festival

Food, music, and dancing could all be found at the 12th annual Hispanic Fall Festival held by the St. Jude Catholic Church of Sarasota. The festival, which was held this past Saturday, Nov. 7, brought together the cultures of 15 Hispano-American countries for a day of delicious snacks and festivities.

Countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela, as well as many others, were represented by food stands serving traditional dishes that could be purchased with tickets. Empanadas, ceviche, tacos, elote, arepas and flan were some of the delicious options. The festival was sponsored by companies such as sie7edias, Wells Fargo and La Guia.

An audience gathered to listen to the lineup of bands as well as watch the many dancers who took to the stage. A play area with bounce houses was set up for the kids off to the side. Unfortunately the festival was cut a couple of hours short due to the rain, causing many to flee to their cars.
