Play ball or play bot? Prepare to witness a spectacle of futuristic proportions as the Los Angeles Chargers National Football League (NFL) game received a sci-fi infusion like never before. Following a recent trend in movie promotion, artificial intelligence (AI) robots were planted throughout the SoFI stadium. The stunt was a promotion for the upcoming blockbuster movie The Creator, out Sept. 23.

The robots are not actors, but portray real characters that will be featured in the upcoming film. The story looks into a conflict between humanity and AI, and  the project is  led by Gareth Edwards, who is known for his work on films such as Monsters, Godzilla and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. With AI becoming increasingly popular, this film was made to serve as a fictional warning of the dangers that can be encountered as technology continues to evolve.
