Update from President O’Shea:

“We have no COVID-19 cases at New College.

At this time, class and work schedules will remain on their normal hours. Please confer with your faculty member or supervisor if you need to make alternative arrangements.

We encourage students who are planning to go home for Spring Break to do so. For students who remain on campus, Metz dining services will provide food service each day of the Break. Hours may be adjusted as needed.

Students, faculty or staff who are going abroad during break should exercise caution as threat levels change quickly, and you may need to self-quarantine before returning.  We will be guided by the CDC’s travel advisory.  Specifically, travelers returning from China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea must remain at home for 14 days in self-isolation before returning to work or school.  Travelers going to Japan or Hong Kong should take extra precautions to avoid contracting the virus.

Governor Ron DeSantis has issued a state of emergency for Florida due to concerns about COVID-19. This order grants state agencies, New College included, greater authority to react quickly to local circumstances in meeting the coronavirus threat.

It’s important that all of us continue to adhere to the preventative measures recommended by the CDC to avoid contracting or spreading the virus.
