Winter break housing on campus available to wider range of students, with additional fee
While last year's winter break housing options were born out of necessity for select students, they are now available this year to anyone unable to return home for any reason.

Winter break housing on campus available to wider range of students, with additional fee

Fall 2020 marked the first time that students were allowed to stay on campus over winter break at New College, in response to COVID-19 and the increased risk it created for international, immunocompromised and housing insecure students. Only select students qualified last year, either through providing medical documentation or explaining their situation to Student Affairs or the Financial Aid Office. However, winter break housing options are being offered once again this year to a larger range of students, with an additional fee and through a single streamlined online housing application.

The application, created by Assistant Dean of Students Nicole Gelfert and sent to the student emailing list on Nov. 8, covers international students, housing insecure students, students who work off-campus in the area during winter break and students who are unable to return home for non-financial reasons.

Whereas last year’s winter break housing was free of charge, this year’s winter break housing costs $262.50 for a 21-day period—Dec. 12 through Jan. 1. Students can request financial support in regards to this fee. Additionally, students who are unable to travel due to financial reasons but who can otherwise return home for winter break are encouraged to contact Ceci Linton at clinton@ncf.edu for emergency travel assistance options.

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and are due on Nov. 24.
