The iPhone six is big, back and better than ever. Recently the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus were revealed to an eager and excited market.
Timothy “Tim” Cook, CEO of Apple Inc., and Philip “Phil” Schiller, senior vice president of worldwide marketing, introduced the new version of the iPhone on September 9. Cell phone carriers began gearing up for pre-orders well in advance of September 12, the day pre-orders began.
The phones are thinner, with larger screens and rounded edges, and the phone’s front is said to seamlessly meet its backing. The iPhone 6 measures 4.7 inches, while the iPhone 6 Plus measures 5.5 inches.
As expected, the phones perform faster and have more efficient batteries. Many iPhone users have been calling for improvements in both.
Camera features have also been enhanced. The well-known stabilization feature that has been used for the phone’s camera has now been implemented in video recording. There are more pixels and a greater pixel density, making the screen brighter and more defined.
“Innovation is alive and well at Apple,” Cook said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. “You can scream it from the rooftops.”
Apple customers are expected to adore iOS 8, which Apple is calling “the world’s most advanced operating system.”
Touch ID, the fingerprint security system, has also been improved. It now works in conjunction with Apple Pay, which allows customers to pay with their phone using a secure element. The payment information is encrypted and stored. If a user’s device is stolen, they will not have to cancel their credit card.
The iPhone 6 is being sold starting at $199 for 16 GB. There is also a new feature being sold where customers can pay $399 for 128 GB of storage. The phones launch on September 19.
