From kitchen to Sudakoff: Sarasota Delivery

Despite the convenience and affordability of Metz food, what is served might not always pique your tastebuds. Perhaps, the weekend hours of Hamilton “Ham” Center do not fit with busy schedules or maybe a late night feast is just the thing to get students through hours of studying. Around Sarasota, there are a plethora of restaurants that provide a delivery service and will not necessarily break the bank, which is especially important for a college student’s budget.

Rico’s Pizzeria and Pasta House

Located just off Tamiami Road, Rico’s provides you with all of your Italian cravings. They serve pizza, salads, calzones, Stromboli and pasta.

Plan on spending between $10.00 to $25.00 when ordering from here.

Open Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Open on Sunday’s from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

(941)358-9958

Student Testimonial: “I’m gluten free,” first-year, Sabrina Finn said. “From Rico’s, a personal gluten free pizza is about $15 without tip. On my pizza, I like pepperoni and extra cheese – I think without those toppings, a personal pizza is like $10. And they don’t charge extra for gluten free which is so incredible.”

China King

China King is a Chinese restaurant with an extensive menu from fried rice to an assortment of chef specialties, such as General Tso’s Chicken. They also have “family size” and “family dinner” portions for larger parties. One can plan on spending anywhere between $10 to $30. They also provide online ordering for those who are phone shy.

Open Monday through Thursday 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Open Friday and Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Open Sunday 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Student Testimonial: “I love China King because it’s exactly what I need when I need it,” third-year Emily Wells said. “It’s got plenty of options to suit whatever I’m in the mood for, the delivery guys are friendly, they throw in freebies like spring rolls or doughnuts when you order a certain amount, and you can’t beat their prices. I usually spend between $10 and $15, but I frequently order together with a friend to split the freebies, tips and delivery costs. I like to order a couple different appetizers to get more variety for my buck, usually potstickers, soup and crab rangoons. They aren’t going to be on the cover of Eating Well anytime soon, but when you’re craving something, they really hit the spot.”

Tsunami Sushi and Hibachi Grill

Tsunami offers a menu filled with all of your sushi delights at a very affordable price. Not only is sushi offered, but so are hot tapas and sides such as miso soup and salads. Prepare to spend between $10 and $17. Their specialty rolls are more expensive options. Keep in mind that there is a delivery minimum of $13.

Open Monday through Thursday 11:00 A.M. to 10:00 P.M.

Open Friday from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M.

Open Saturday 12:00 P.M. to 12:00 A.M.

Open Sunday 12:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.

Student Testimonial: “From Tsunami, it’s about $13 without tip,” first-year Sabrina Finn said. “I like the Captain Lumpy – it’s a tempura-fried sushi roll with salmon, cream cheese, extra seaweed, and a spicy sauce on top. They make the tempura batter with rice flour when I ask, which is really nice.”

Vertori’s

Vertori’s is a pizzeria that serves anything from appetizers such as wings to Italian entreés. Prices range from $10 to $30 depending on what kind of appetite you have.

Open Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Open Saturday and Sunday’s 12:00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.

(941)751-0333

Student Testimonial: “Vertori’s is my favorite place for delivery because they have great food and a really extensive menu,” thesis student Cassandra Corrado said. “My partner is vegan and they can make pretty much everything vegan, so it’s convenient. They also deliver wine and beer, which I’ve never tried, but I think is funny and I’ll probably do it one day. Usually if I’m ordering from Vertori’s it’s because I’m really hungry, so I’ll get food for a couple of days (like 2-3 meals), and I end up spending around $25 plus tip. I get their margherita pizzas (both vegan and not), their tiramisu and their bruschetta. Their bruschetta is great.”

Southside Deli

Southside Deli offers deli style breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering bountiful plates of wraps, burgers, quesadillas, soups and more. Furthermore, they provide homemade gelato and brownies to satisfy the sweet-tooth cravings. Food costs vary between $5 to $12.
