Family Weekend will take place from Sept. 25-26 this year.  Students’ families will enjoy a breakfast reception at Jane Bancroft Cook Library at 9:00 a.m. that Saturday morning. Families may then proceed to a 10:00 a.m. workshop on financial debt and credit in the Teaching Auditorium.  An ice cream social will be held at the New College Foundation’s Keating Center at 2:00 p.m. before an alumni “Life After New College” panel discussion at Sudakoff Center at 4:00 p.m. Families can opt to go on a sunset cruise by the Bay on Le Barge for $20 a person at 7:00 p.m. —food and drinks will be served on the boat— or participate in Keep Sarasota Beautiful’s Coastal Clean-up of Whitaker Bayou at 9:00 a.m.

On Sunday morning, families can eat breakfast at Four Winds with President Gordon “Mike” Michalson and Dean of Students Wendy Bashant from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The Pritzker Marine Biology Research lab will also have an open house for students’ families from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Director of Student Activities & Community Engagement, Konnie Kruczek, says that Student Affairs keeps the weekend’s schedule, “pretty flexible” and that typically, “parents want to come and take their kids shopping and out to eat.”

She also says that, “Parents Weekend tends to be a little informal — it works for what it is.”
